SBDC at NJCU Celebrates Small Business Week 2019

May 8, 2019

What is Small Business Week?

The National Small Business Week recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners every spring. This tradition of honoring the American small businesses has been ongoing for more than 50 years.

When is Small Business Week?

National Small Business Week is celebrated from May 5th – May 11th, 2019.

Why Does Small Business Week Take Place?

More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create about two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. As of 2018, there are 30.2 million small businesses in the United States. In New Jersey alone, there are 861,373 small businesses.

Because the small businesses play a vital role in the American economy, it is important to recognize entrepreneurs and small business owners for creating jobs, driving innovation, and increasing America’s global competitiveness.

How do we celebrate Small Business Week?

The SBDC at NJCU is celebrating this special week in a very unique way that has never been done before. Coined the “SBDC City Tour,” this is the perfect opportunity to visit some of our fastest growing businesses and get their real entrepreneurial story in an intimate sit-down interview.

We will feature our #SBDCEntrepreneurs and their story live on our Instagram when we visit them. Follow @SBDCHudsonCounty and stay tuned for updates!
